Identifying and Protecting Your Intellectual Property This Workshop looks at the various ways IT professionals can help protect the intellectual property in their organizations. Participants will first learn how to identify "what is" and "what's not" proprietary in their organization and what steps can be taken to broaden the proprietary scope. Looking at what "IT" can do to safeguard the "trade secrets", "goodwill", "employee and contractor information", and other income generating assets within the organization.
Secondly, participants will learn about the specific "contractual protections" available to Michigan businesses and when they are appropriate to use. Focusing on the "pro's and con's" of Non-Disclosure and Confidentiality Agreements, Non-Compete and Non-Solicitation provisions, Indemnification clauses and other contractual protections used by manufacturing and service organizations, participants will learn that these clauses need to be "customized" given the type of property being protected and who will have access to it.
This workshop is well suited for all high level IT employees and business owners that sell highly competitive products or services.
