THE NORTHWEST CHAPTER OF AITP
The Northwest Chapter of AITP is a not-for-profit professional
association comprised of professionals in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis
and St. Paul, Minnesota facing the issues of designing, developing and
implementing Information Technology. The Norwest Chapter is affiliated
with the national Association of Information Technology Professionals
organization headquartered near Chicago, Illinois. ( www.aitp.org ).
The Northwest Chapter is dedicated to promoting awareness of solutions to today's issues by facilitating the sharing IT knowledge and experience. It supports its members through the promotion of professionalism and education, and offers member support in the form of conferences expositions, publications, and idea exchange with peers at monthly meetings.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday morning of each
month, September through May. See UPCOMING EVENTS for planned activities
and specific dates.
The Northwest Chapter currently includes over 60 members and is led by a volunteer Board of Directors. If you would like to participate as a Board or Committee member, contact any Board member listed in the BOARD MEMBERS section below.
The Northwest Chapter in the Twin Cities maintains a strong local presence in the information technology community, even though its name has changed several times. The Chapter started in 1946 as the Association of Tabulating Supervisors (ATS). It was also know as Remington Association of Tabulating Supervisors, or RATS. In 1951 ATS/RATS became the National Machinists Accounting Association (NMAA) and changed its name to Data Processing Management Association (DPMA) in 1961 with national affiliation. In 1997, the organization changed to its current name, the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP), to better reflect its broad membership. Take a look at the AITP National Web site to learn more about the beginnings of AITP and its progression over the last four decades.
