In Memoriam: Homer Bruton

Homer Bruton was born 4/17/1926 at Kennedy Shores, Texas.  He passed away May 9th, 2013. He was the Mile High Chapter President in 1973-74. He joined the Army Air Corp. Cadet program when he was 17, and was a gunner on a B-17 when the Japanese surrendered. He graduated from Phoenix College, and moved to Denver where he obtained his BS and MBA degrees at the University of Denver, and pursued additional studies at the University of Colorado.

During his career he worked for The City of Denver, National Jewish Hospital, Stanley Aviation, and the State of South Dakota. He spent the last 25 years with the State of Colorado and retired from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jane Smelser Bruton. Homer and Betty loved to travel and made more than a dozen cruises together, in addition to many more trips by air and automobile. They literally traveled the world together.

Homer was a patriotic veteran of World War 2, a long-time IT professional and AITP member and leader, but most of all, he should be recognized for his long-time marriage of 65 years. That is his most remarkable accomplishment. Thank you, Homer for the example you have set for all of us.
