2014 Dave Sanders Columbine I.T. Scholarship Winner – Alekzander Bollig May 2014, Denver, CO
Mr. Alekzander Bollig, a graduating senior from Columbine High School, is honored by the Mile High Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) as the 2014 recipient of the Dave Sanders Columbine Information Technology Scholarship at the chapter's monthly dinner meeting held on May 15th, 2014. Alek will attend the Florida Institute of Technology in the fall where he intends to major in Computer Science.
Alek’s honors at Columbine include academic letters in 2012 & 2013 and also AP scholar in 2013. In preparation for his Computer Science Major Alek has served as Columbine tech and worked on several web development projects.
Scholarship Committee Chair, Larry Krupicka says that Alek was highly recommended by School Technology Coordinator Matthew Daniels who noted: "Alek is the kind of person who gets things done who gets things done the right way”.
Outside the classroom Alek enjoys swimming and was a member of the Columbine Swim Team from freshman to senior years and is a member of DECA (www.deca.org).
This scholarship was funded to honor the memory of Dave Sanders, who was a computer lab and business instructor at Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado until April 20, 1999 when he lost his life while helping students to safety during the Columbine shootings.
AITP is a national organization that provides quality IT related education, information on relevant IT issues and forums for networking with experienced peers and students preparing to enter the IT profession. The Mile High Chapter has been providing leadership opportunities, professional development and personal growth in Denver since 1952.
