It has come to our attention as the Member Services Committee that many of our members are unaware of what membership options are available to potential AITP members and the discounts associated with those specific memberships. If you are a chapter or region leader and have questions about how to process memberships or how to grow your membership base, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be glad to help.
Here is an outline of what we offer and how to obtain additional information on our AITP web portal:
Individual students whose degree major is consistent with their desire to enter the information processing field shall be eligible to become Student Members of the association.
Student to Professional Members
Former student members who have all the rights and privileges of a Professional Member at a reduced dues rate for three years.
Individuals who are or have been employed in the management of information resources including, but not limited to, managers, staff, sales, service providers, and educators shall be eligible to become Professional Members of the association.
Faculty Advisor Discount
This initiative provides a $50 reduction in dues off our regular association professional dues, bringing it to $55/year plus applicable chapter and regional dues. To be eligible, a faculty member must agree to serve as faculty advisor to a student chapter for a year and provide substantiation from their school and local chapter regarding their role as faculty advisor. This initiative will not be available online. For more information, email email@example.com.
Commercial, government, and education organizations by the nature of their business which use, employ, rely on information technology on a day to day basis to improve operations and/or provide strategic competitive advantages shall be eligible to become Enterprise Members of the Association. All Enterprise Member organizations must have a minimum number of memberships to qualify for this membership class. All members within the Enterprise Member organization shall possess the same rights as other professional members.
Unemployed Membership Initiative
We have renewed our very popular unemployed membership program, commencing 9/1/11 through 8/31/12, and expanded it to include the following reasons for being temporarily out of the workforce:
- Unemployment (laid off, contract ended, company closure)
- Medical leave (health or disability prevents gainful employment)
- Family leave (left the workforce to care for family members full time)
- Education leave (enrolled full time in a formal education program)
The discount of $50 reduces Association dues to $55. Chapter and Region dues (if applicable) are not discounted and must be paid. To qualify for this discount, a person must 1) have been previously employed in the IT profession and 2) is currently unemployed. Members who previously took advantage of this Unemployed Membership Discount will also be eligible for this program as long as they are able to validate that they are still unemployed.
Each of these areas and the processes to apply for this type of membership can be found by logging into http://www.aitp.org/ and on the left hand side of the page click on "Why Join AITP?” and under that tab click on "Classes of Membership”.
The above listed membership classifications are listed in detail. There are hyperlinks to the appropriate documentation needed to join at that level or a redirect to the online form. There is also information if you click on "To Join as a XXXX Member On-Line” under any one of the classes of membership. That is additional information that you can use when soliciting membership. This link takes you to a page titles "Membership Application” and explains each type of membership again. You can also click on "Click Here to learn more about your discount programs” and this will take you to a printable pdf you can print for easy access to membership information. We at Member Services hope that this information helps you understand the different types of membership options available to prospective members. Should you have any questions regarding membership please email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
