CIO of the Year Since 1995, the top CIOs in the Chicagoland area have been recognized by being nominated by their peers and CEOs for the annual CIO of the Year award. In 2019, the Award Ceremony is being expanding to add additional recognitions for high performing CIOs.
CIO Innovator of the Year This award recognizes a CIO who has been especially innovative in his or her approach to producing business results and is exemplary for their change leadership and innovation contribution to their organization.
CIO+ Award This award recognizes a CIO who has successfully expanded his or her current role into other business areas like Operations, Marketing, Sales, CEO role, etc., thus, broadening their impact on driving success for the overall business entity.
Special Keynote Speaker: Diane Swonk | Chief Economist | Grant Thornton, LLP
The Passionate Economist, Diane Swonk, is one of Chicago's most prolific economists. She has been called upon by policymakers and business leaders from Washington, DC to Tokyo. She has more than 30 years of experience in financial services and sits on an advisory committee to the Federal Reserve Board and its regional banks. She has advised the Council of Economic Advisors for the White House under three presidents.
Swonk is currently the Chief Economist at Grant Thornton LLP. Previously she held top roles at Meisrow Financial and Bank One Corporation. Listed as one of the "Top Forecasters in the Country" by theWall Street Journaland rated as one of the most accurate economic forecasters by MSNBC, she has a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of all things economic. She offers audiences a deep, non-political dive into global and domestic economic issues, including where the economy is headed, trade issues, regulation, taxes, and the effect of government policy on the markets.
Swonk has earned many awards over her career. She was named a fellow by the National Association for Business Economists (NABE) for her outstanding contributions to the field of business economics. She was designated "Business Leader of the Year" by the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago.Today's Chicago Woman called her the "Top Woman in Finance in Chicago" and theChicago Sun Times crowned her one of the "Most Influential Women in Business in Chicago."
She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Arts in economics with top honors from the University of Michigan. She also received an MBA in finance and strategic planning with top honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she currently serves on the Sitting Committee.
